Hideaki
Takizawa does take the concept up a notch or two with
his new Monday
night drama Boku Dake no Madonna...and I Love Her
(9 p.m. on the Fuji
network). He plays Kyoichi Suzuki, a college junior
who finally is able to
move away from his parents and two older sisters.
He hopes to enjoy the
privacy of an apartment of his own near campus, but
there are prying eyes
there, too. Alerted by his parents, all the neighbors
are watching over him.
These include a woman who runs a bar, a guy who just
stares at him
strangely, and Ichigaya (Kazuki Kosakai), an aspiring
writer with plenty of
time on his hands.
Suzuki
likes his new apartment but doesn't get to spend much
time in it. He
studies during the day with classmate Nakano (played
by none other than
Kotaro Koizumi). He has also just been dropped by
the cutest girl in class.
Suzuki works nights as a security guard with Kuramoto
(Reo Morimoto), who
supervises him and listens to his stories.
The
big story is that Suzuki gradually discovers someone
has been sleeping
in his bed while he is gone, eating his food and rearranging
the furniture.
And it isn't Goldilocks.
After
several attempts, our hero catches the culprit. Surumi
Kataoka (Kyoko
Hasegawa) is a carefree older woman who tells him
a tale about using his
room to spy on her former lover, who lives across
the street. It seems he
has gone off and married someone else. Despite her
dippy personality, Suzuki
is quickly infatuated with Surumi. She leads him about
like a pet on a
leash, but Suzuki doesn't seem to mind. He is inspired
by their late night
motorbike rides through town and fireworks at the
pier.
As the PR blurb reminds us, all we know for sure is
that Surumi is cute. We
don't even know if this is her real name, and she
obviously has a lot of
secrets that will be slowly revealed to viewers. Suzuki
doesn't care. He is
smitten and is soon cooking her gourmet meals and
catering to the intruder's
every need. This too is a crazy youth fantasy but
it will probably hold its
own in the ratings thanks to Takizawa's loyal fans.
One star for now, worth
a very quick glance.
