Ai wo Kudasai (Please give me Love) Miho Kanno stars as a nursery school teacher who is trying her best to overcome her traumatic past despite the bullying of other teachers and parents who keep insinuating she is incapable of doing the job because she was not raised properly herself. Not nearly as saintly as Food Fight hero Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Kanno attempts to cope by singing her heart out on Tokyo street corners at night and seeking love (and perhaps revenge) by having affairs with some of the young fathers of her students. She was just about to pop into bed with father No. 2 (Takenori Jinnai) at the end of episode one. (From Daily Yomiuri, 7/12/00, Wm Penn) What makes "Ai o Kudasai" worth a quick glance is Yosuke Eguchi, who plays a Hokkaido philosopher, poet and Kanno pen pal. Yes, a pen pal in the age of e-mail. It is a quaint and reassuring touch from the past. Eguchi is employed to help people on and off the Hakodate ropeway. He met Kanno three years ago when he helped her off a Tokyo bridge just as she was about to jump. They have written regularly since following the guidelines he set down: no romantic involvement and no face-to-face meetings. In the process, he becomes her salvation, conscience and mentor. Two stars. Not exceptional but worth a quick peak. Starring: Kanno

Yamaguchi Ayumi and more. The theme song "Zoo -Ai wo Kudasai" released by Hasui Shyuka (the character Kanno Miho plays) is gaining in popularity and thus many people want to see this drama. It's actually pretty sad and dark but we'll see how things end. After watching all episodes, it actually ended quite decently. With the situations that Kanno's character was placed with, the final episodes is where you see her character finally change for the better.
